Doja Cat Wiki

Vie (translated: "Life" from French) is the fifth studio album by American rapper and singer Doja Cat. It was released on September 26, 2025, under Kemosabe and RCA Records.

2024[]

On October 25, Doja tweeted "album" and "vvv" via X (formerly known as Twitter), leading fans to believe Doja was recording and heading to release her fifth album.[1]

On October 26, Doja Cat held an exclusive Airbnb event for which she selected 15 fans to visit her mansion and spend a day with her. Part of the event was a listening party and performance of her popular tracks. Among the previously released tracks, she played many songs that were never heard before, including some scrapped songs from her previous album Scarlet, said to be considered for her fifth studio album. While Doja Cat did confirm a few of these songs could possibly be included on the record, she noted that their release is not a foregone conclusion.

On November 12, Doja Cat posted an unordered and uncomplete tracklist to X, two of the tracks being older scraps. The tweet has since been deleted and later a new tweet was made, stating "Songs are in no particular order. Starred my favorites."[2] Alongside this, she deleted all her previous tweets, changed her X bio to "v", tweeted "ma vie, mi vida, mia vita" (translated: "my life, my life, my life" from French, Spanish and Italian respectively) and "5 love languages". The five love languages are the different ways that people receive and express love in a relationship. One of them is acts of service, which is also a track by the same name on the album.

On November 14, Doja cleared out her Instagram posts, hinting that she's gearing up to release the album. She also tweeted "Vie ❣️", subliminally referring to the album. "Vie" is translated to "life" from French.

On November 16, Doja shared another track list to her Instagram stories, with two new songs "All Mine" and "Happy", with previous songs "Wood Holly" and "Appreciation" removed.

On November 29, Doja Cat continued with the subliminal tweets, this time tweeting "Tu es ma vie", translating to "You are my life" from French. On November 30, 2024, Doja posted a minute-long clip to Twitter of herself previewing very short seconds of the intro of 9 tracks on the album.[3]

2025[]

On February 9, Doja Cat tweeted "Vie coming soon!" and "Correct. Vie is the name of the album." Vie is French for "life" and is commonly used in sayings such as "ma vie", translating to "my love". This and other hints lead fans to believe this album will be centered around love songs.

On March 6, Doja Cat posted a very cropped image of one of the photos taken for the album's photoshoot, captioned "🥀".[4] On March 27, Doja officially revealed the visual theme for the album, posting two photos from the photoshoot captioned "tu es ma vie 💋" and changing her Instagram profile picture.[5] Alongside this, she changed her X profile picture and header to more images of the photoshoot, the one in the header being the uncropped photo of the Instagram post on March 6. On March 28, 2025, she deleted that Instagram post and instead posted two new images from the photoshoot, captioned “v”[6]. She also changed her profile picture to the one she has on X.

On March 29, Doja took to Instagram Live to preview some more intro snippets of each track on the album, also playing the entirety of "Acts of Service" and a portion of a track not on the prior tracklist, "Lipstain".

On April 11, Doja posted 3 images of herself from what seems to be from a photoshoot or possible behind the scenes of a video, captioned "il n’est pas mon amant 🥀" (translated: "he's not my lover").[7] Director @normies_nightmare on Instagram shared a collage of this photoshoot, revealing another image.[8]

On April 13, Doja posts another demo tracklist of the album to X,[9] with some very noticeable differences. The photo was with the caption, "dont ask me where crack is rn", as the song wasn't seen in the tracklist. The new songs seen include "Amen", "Come Back", "Couples Therapy", "Gorgeous", "I Like You", "Jealous Type", "Kink", "One More Time", "Lipstain", and "Slide". The only songs still remaining from the previous tracklist include "Turn the Lights On", "Make It Up", "Happy", "Cards", "All Mine", and "Acts of Service". Alongside this, she tweeted some lyrics for a song, “No girl enjoys trying to tough it out for a party boy… 🎹💋”, and also tweeted, “take me dancing scrapped and used as easter eggs, slow burn scrapped, break my heart is called All Mine.”

On April 14, Doja took to Instagram Live to preview "Jealous Type". Alongside this, she posted two more photos to Instagram. One of them being a new one from the photoshoot and another being an image of her feet hanging out a car window, possibly from a video shoot.

On April 16, Taco Bell, whom Doja has collaborated with multiple times, previewed a snippet of "Cards" in a TikTok video.[10] On April 26, 2025, Doja tweeted "vie vie vie". On April 28, 2025, another photo from the photoshoot was shared to Doja’s Instagram, captioned “🎷”. This was of a new outfit.

On May 5, Doja Cat collaborated with Marc Jacobs and "Jealous Type" was the chosen song for the official advertisement, previewing a high-quality snippet of the song for the first time. Alongside this, she attended the Met Gala event this day, in which she stated in an interview, "With the campaign we're doing together, we put one of the singles behind the visual for it, and it's called "Jealous Type". So if you watch that, you can hear that in there", confirming the song to be a single from the album.[11]

On July 21, Doja tweeted "L'album est complet 🥐", confirming the album to be done. Alongside this, she deleted all her tweets aside from the ones where she was teasing the album.[12]

On July 26, Doja's manager, Gordan Dillard shared a list of collaborators for Vie, which producers Jack Antonoff and Blood Orange can be seen in.[13][14] Later on August 5, 2025, Doja´s website was updated with new custom album theme.

On August 7, Doja Cat posted on Instagram, "Welcome to Vie Hotline. Call or text for more☎️" with a number (747)-246-7262 with "Jealous Type" as the audio. On August 8, Doja's website updated to pre-save the song and revealed the official release date as August 21, 2025. Also on this day, Doja held a private party at the OASIS club in San Francisco, where she performed "Cards", "Take Me Dancing" and "Jealous Type" in their entirety. The songs made their way onto the internet as unlike the previous private party, phones were allowed.

On August 12, Doja officially announced on Instagram alongside a single cover that "Jealous Type" was releasing on August 21, 2025. On August 14, 2025, Doja went on Instagram live and showed herself signing vinyl covers on an unseen image from the "Jealous Type" promotional shoot.

On August 20, Doja officially unveiled the official cover art of the album's vinyl records and CDs. In the meantime, Doja stated on X that the vinyl cover she unveiled was not the official artwork for Vie, saying "That's not the album cover we haven't even shot it yet".[15]

On August 21, the night that the lead single "Jealous Type" came out, it was confirmed via Apple Music that the album will feature 15 tracks, with "Jealous Type" being track 2.[16] On the same day, Doja announced the Ma Vie World Tour and the dates on her website. Presale for the tour tickets was scheduled to begin on August 25, starting with Australia and New Zealand and continuing regionally in markets such as Seoul, Tokyo, Manila, Singapore, Kaohsiung, and more.[17]

On August 28, it was revealed through iTunes that the Vie (Paris Edition) includes a digital booklet and four additional exclusive snippets of tracks.[18] Snippets would later be released exclusively on iTunes as weeks went on.

On September 9, the Vie Phone (a telephone booth, customised Vie themed) was located at Union Square, New York, where many attendees stood outside the telephone booth and met Doja Cat. Snippet previews of "Come Back", "Take Me Dancing", "Silly! Fun!" and "Gorgeous" were shared. Alongside this day, Doja released a 30-second teaser for "Gorgeous" as the 16th track from Vie (Paris Edition) on iTunes, named Exclusive Preview, as the first bonus gift for buying the deluxe version. The iTunes Review also got edited: iTunes Exclusive version will feature some extras that you won't find anywhere else. The first is a teaser for the new song "Gorgeous". Download it now and check back each week until release for more bonus goodies.

On September 12, Doja Cat released a preview of "Gorgeous" on her official YouTube channel.[19] Alongside this, a mini teaser for the music video was uploaded to her Instagram account, captioned "It’s a crime #CrimeToBeGorgeous".[20] The video features a close-up panning of Doja's face as she holds a lipstick.

On September 16, the second exclusive preview (17th track) of the Vie (Paris Edition) was released, the song "AAAHH MEN!" being previewed for the first time.

On September 18, the Vie Phone telephone booth in Los Angeles previewed snippets of 'Gorgeous", "All Mine" and "One More Time", confirming two new songs addition on the album.

On September 19, Doja officialy announced the tracklist for her fifth studio album, Vie. On September 22, 2025, Doja unveiled the official album cover artwork to her Instagram account.[21] The post captions as, "Falling in love is putting trust in the hands of yourself and others. The yellow parachute represents curiosity, happiness, and adventure. Flying you towards new experiences and scenes, taking a leap of faith, and holding no bounds. The tree represents life and wisdom. Giving you a sense of safety within its branches, but the pain from the fall teaches you that those scratches can be healed. You don’t have to hit the ground. Love grows upward but more importantly down. It’s the roots that keep you steady. This is the cover of my album. 🌳"

On September 20, another mini teaser clip of the music video for "Gorgeous" was posted to Doja's Instagram with the caption "9.26". The video featured Doja and a model lip syncing to the song.

On September 24, Doja uploaded an updated track listing of Vie to her Instagram stories, in which “feat. SZA” could be seen written next to “Take Me Dancing”. It was revealed SZA sent her verse in last second, giving the song an additional minute in length. Since the vinyl pressings for Vie were done prior to SZA’s feature, a solo version of the song will also be released from vinyls. Alongside this, Doja tweeted “Sza is the siren of this century and my favorite voice.”[22]

On September 26, the album was officially released with "Gorgeous" as the second single and it's music video. Alongside this, Doja's new makeup brand (which was sent in fan newsletter titled "step into my vanity") was also released. The video includes Alex Constani, Irina Shayk and many more models, as the makeup was previewed throughout the video.

On September 27, a day after the release of the album, another demo tracklisting was shared by an unknown source. This tracklist shows the finalised songs on the album, multiple unreleased songs also seen in the other two demo tracklists from November 2024 and April 2025, and a few never-before-seen unreleased titles, including “From The Dead”, "U & I", "Human Nature", "Baby Freeze" and "Ball & Chain". Alongside this, three other titles were shared by the unknown source that aren't present in any of the tracklistings: "Cosmopolitan", "Rose", "Adam & Eve" , "Romeo" and "Sex On The Beach".

On September 29, a mini teaser of the music video for “Stranger” was teased via Doja Cat’s Instagram story, written to be released the same day. The song is the album's third single.

On October 31, Doja Cat released her Halloween photoshoot inspired by the album concept.

On November 30, Doja tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) the word "deluxe", suggesting a deluxe edition for Vie.

Composition[]

Despite claiming that there will be “no more pop” in a series of tweets to promote the rollout for the Scarlet era, Doja Cat claimed in an issue with the V Magazine that Vie will be a much more pop-driven project:

“I do want to be self-aware enough to admit the fact that this is a pop-driven project. I know that I can make pop music, and pop is just that it’s popular. It starts to become a bit of a thing that’s viewed as a sport by people who are just bystanders to it, who enjoy it, but maybe also don’t respect it or what it is, which is just music. There are some people who don’t see it as music. They see it as if this is some kind of football for girls and gays.”

Thematically, the album is rich with retro textures and a sonic background charged by various influences from the 70's and 80's. Vie highlights Doja's own personal evolution and brings audiences into the world of love, life and the mess in between. Teased through the video for “Jealous Type”, various promotional photoshoots, outside looks such as concerts and the Met Gala, Doja paints her funky, neon and colorful modernised depiction of the 80s. The album is also influenced widely by French culture, as the title itself, Vie, translates to “life”. The intro of the albums opening track, “Cards”, has a French sound, so as for throughout the album, and even one of the vinyl variants (The Quality Time Edition) was a shot of Doja in front of the Eiffel Tower itself.
