Doja Cat had an Instagram Live on May 17, 2018, where she previewed some unreleased tracks - one of them being an early version of "Shine". This version had a very rough sound to it, and had a different second verse that was completely changed in the finalized version. This could likely be one of the three songs she made with Yeti Beats in May 2018, another one being the unreleased song "Sober". The song was later remastered for its release on Hot Pink in November 2019.
