“SCOOP” is a song by American rapper Lil Nas X featuring Doja Cat. It was released through Columbia Records on September 17, 2021, appearing as the sixth track from Lil Nas X's debut studio album, MONTERO.

Background[]

Lil Nas X first teased "SCOOP" with a 40-second snippet posted to X/Twitter on January 15, 2021, before revealing the name of the song and hinting at a February 2021 release a few hours later on Instagram.^[1] He later added it to his debut studio album with a feature from Doja Cat, who previously showed her appreciation for his work in a June 2021 MTV interview.^[2]

Three snippets were teased back in April 2021 by Lil Nas X on TikTok. The full song’s demo without Doja Cat’s verse was leaked in high quality along with the rest of the debut studio album MONTERO on the July 28, 2021. The rapper revealed on X/Twitter that Ski Mask The Slump God was supposed to be featured on "SCOOP" alongside Doja Cat, but he didn't turn in his verse in time.^[3]
