It was fully created herself during a livestream on Periscope on January 11, 2018, however it was never uploaded to SoundCloud, where she'd usually release home-recorded songs. The song currently remains in low quality and samples "The Siamese Cat Song", a soundtrack off the 1955 animated Disney film The Lady and the Tramp. It was also performed once in 2018.

Background[]
On January 11, 2018, Doja Cat produced and wrote the song while livestreaming on Periscope.
On January 24, 2018, Doja had done a poll on X/Twitter asking fans which song she should release during February. The poll consisted of "STFU", "ROTATION", "LOOK" and "BABY". As "BABY" was winning, Doja redone the poll as people thought "BABY" was referring to her (at the time) upcoming album Baby, which was later retitled to Amala. She replaced that song on the poll with "WEREWOLF". Despite this, none of the songs ever saw a release.
On March 3, 2018, Doja played the song on Instagram Live before she went on stage at the Botanica Musical Festival, proceeding to also perform the song for the first and only time. However, she cut it right before the second verse.
