On July 19, 2014, Doja Cat shared two snippets of the song to her Instagram and Facebook accounts (Instagram posts now deleted) captioned as "FIRST HALF OF VERSE" and "SECOND HALF OF VERSE". The title being unknown, a fan had labelled it as "Hopscotch" and is now commonly known by the title.
