The song was first revealed on the working track list of Scarlet, posted on Doja Cat's Instagram story on April 18, 2023. The song can be seen with a different title, "Go Off Lil Mama". Later during the year in mid-2023, another working track list was posted of Scarlet. Go Off was seen with another slightly different title "Go Off Lil Mum".
