Background

On March 30, 2017, Doja Cat uploaded a self-produced version of the song to her SoundCloud account. This version is unmixed and has no second verse. The vocal takes are also slightly different and the instrumental doesn't change when the pre-chorus starts, opposed to the finalized version.

Throughout November 2017, Doja Cat performed this song and the majority of Amala at singer Lizzo's Good as Hell Tour, as Doja was the opening act. The version performed was remastered for the album.

Around 2017 - 2018, Doja Cat shared the early tracklist of Amala before its release. The tracklist had some cut tracks and "All Nighter" serving as the sixth track in the alt tracks, next to it written "finish".
